Ferrante is the President of EZIT since 2001.
Non economic public body, founded in 1953 by the Allied Military Government for the
development of Trieste’s industrial port.
The area managed by EZIT is one of the largest industrial areas in Europe,
including more than 1200 hectares in three municipalities and more than 530 companies.
The body aims at promoting the development of industrial, economic and service activities.
Its main functions:
- authorizations,
- territorial planning,
- designing and realization of public works and infrastructures with expropriating authority,
- promotion and management of services for companies,
- vigilance
- promotion and participation to the initiatives for the development of the territory, even if outside the involved area,
- promotion, planning and realization of other industrial areas also abroad.
In order to carry out these functions, EZIT carries out purchasing
and selling operations of real estates and immovable properties and
operates also by creating or participating in joint stock companies
and participating in transnational bodies.
At present EZIT is drafting the town infra-regional plan, it is
promoting Trieste’s territorial agreement, it is working in the
field of land reclamation and recovery of industrial areas and
promoting initiatives to detect the best use of energy sources
and renewable energies, as well as carrying out initiatives to
enhance innovation in industries and implementing industrial results
from research and technology transfer.
